~EXCERPT REVEAL - Lost in Rewind by Tali Alexander~

lost in rewind excerpt reveal.jpg

Excerpt
Tears pool in my eyes as I realize I’ve traveled millions of miles away and Sara has at last opened the door and is standing there, observing me. My heart is lodged in my throat as our eyes lock on each other, completely paralyzing me. Time stands still while everything between us evaporates into memory dust. My tears spill over as my wretched heart attempts to say the words my brain continuously denies. Please don’t leave me. We promised. Don’t marry him. Give us a chance. Don’t do this to me again. I don’t want to live without you. I love you. My mind is bombarded all at once, and yet I’m a fucking mute—a speechless, soundless, wordless fool.
“Sara,” I manage to lament on the verge of more tears.
“Jeffery,” she replies, closing her eyes to break the spell she cast.
I watch her mere inches away from me, and just like a memory of some long forgotten dream, I know what will happen next. It’s as if no time has passed, it’s as if we didn’t break each other our whole life, and it’s as if nothing else matters but her and me.
I was going to wait, I was going to be respectful, I was going to let her invite me into her space to finally talk, like adults, like parents, but I can’t wait any longer. I walk in uninvited and invade her space as I take all the air in the room with me. Can she see the pain leak out of my eyes and the resolve in my stare? She stumbles backward and gasps in shock at my forwardness. She knows I won’t be held at bay any longer—I’ve waited for almost fifteen years to un-pause our story, and now that my heart is in full control it turned my brain off, because I don’t care what’s right or wrong. I’m here to take back what fate promised me all along.
I feel her before I even touch her. My hands and body come at her all at once. I pull her flush against me, and turn us both to the left—as if part of some well rehearsed dance—and usher us into the open powder room. Once we’re in the dark, windowless room, I shut the door with a bang, quickly locking it. My heart explodes in its cage, my limbs tremble as I hold her near, and everything turns to red. I can’t think as I try to breathe and not pass out with her clutched against my heart. Is this really happening?
She attempts unsuccessfully to say something, but it’s no use, both of our brains negate to function. My body hasn’t come to terms with reality, and her touch and scent are overwhelming … but she still feels like home.
“Don’t tell me to stop, don’t push me away, you don’t have to say anything, and please, for the love of our children, just listen to me,” I beg nervously with my eyes and words while the automatic lights slowly come on, illuminating her petrified stare.
She vehemently shakes her head and looks away from me. I feel like the wolf luring in a lamb, but I’m the one who’s been lost in her spell.
“I love you. Look at me. I love you so much, Sara. I’m sorry for everything I made you live through. I’m sorry I can’t stop loving you. You don’t need to talk, baby, just look at me and listen to what I have to say, please,” I continue while I loosen the hold I have around her tiny waist and lower her to rest on the marble vanity, positioning myself as close as possible between her legs.
I’m suddenly aware she’s wearing nothing but a man’s white T-shirt around her overheated, trembling body, and as I look down, I feel the flush of her skin rise and spread under my touch. I slide my hands up her bare legs, spreading feelings to places I know I have no right to try and communicate with anymore. I haven’t seen her or touched her like this in over two years, and being this close to her, breathing the same air as her inside this little powder room, only makes me want us back a million times more.
I look down at my hands placed on her thighs; I’m trembling, too. I tear my gaze back to her eyes as she breathlessly watches me in shock, waiting for me to make the next move. I want to kiss you, taste you. I’m starved for you.

Synopsis

Friendships are defined as a bond between two people, a building of a strong connection and like for one another. Usually excluding romantic or sexual feelings. Now what occurs when the typical doesn't happen and friendship turns to love?

Trey Adams spends his days working with music and pining over his longtime best friend, Shayla Donovan. The only thing holding him back is his past, a past where love only hurts and leaves you. To love Shayla the way he desires may be a long, arduous road.

Shayla Donovan has lived thirteen years of her life with a secret she is ready to confess. Pushing her fear aside may be the only way she can move forward in helping Trey learn the meaning of true love.

On their journey to finding love, these two souls will fight battles bigger than they could ever imagine.

Excerpt

Tonight proved our love is stronger than anything—the feelings and emotions all real.

The only light in the room is the burning fireplace, crackling across the way from the bed. I watch the orange and yellow flames mesh, regaining my bearings. Shay’s warmth on top of my chest is welcoming, helping me relax. I notice she’s been silent for a few minutes, and when I look down I'm met by her sleeping form.

Everything that has happened in the past twenty-four hours wore my girl out. But I'm more than happy just sitting here listening to her light breathing as she sleeps. She looks beautiful, like nothing in this world could disturb her. I want this moment to last forever. I want my time with her to last far past the time we are given here on earth. I don't know if I believe in eternity, but she sure makes me hopeful that there will be one. She makes me feel like the day I was born only half of me entered the world while the other half of me waited with her and the day we met was the day I became complete again.

Lightly, I move the backside of my fingers down her cheek, and when my thumb makes it to her lips I graze the round edges. Remembering the way she kissed me back when I took away her virginity. Looking at her now, I feel a sense of completion. I’m not only falling, but in essence, also surrendering my heart, soul, and body for the chance to love someone.

This is the moment that changes a boy into a man. The moment one falls in love. Not only am I responsible for loving this woman, but I'm also now in charge of protecting her heart and honoring any promise I give her from here on out.

For women, virginity is the one thing that they give to someone that they’ve fallen in love with. Well, most women. The one thing they give away as a symbol of their love and commitment to their partner. But what virginity is to women, is what a heart is to a man. We save that shit with us until the right woman comes along to claim it. That's when we then give it away, without a second thought or regret. Shayla took my heart, and I will never be able to get it back.

“Why are you looking at me like that?” Her voice is soft and laced in a sleepy rasp.

“You look beautiful when you sleep.”

She searches my eyes, seeing if I’m lying or hiding anything from her. Letting her gaze falter for a second she moves on, accepting my answer. She stretches before placing her head back on her spot above my heart.

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Cover Design: Sommer Stein, Perfect Pear Creative
Release Date: September 19, 2016

Clichéd sentiments of love are not my thing. Instead, I give into raw temptation and thrive on the physical aspects of what men have to offer. Unemotional, carnal connections are what I live for, and they seem to keep me in a blissfully naïve state.

I’ve gone years with a different man in a different bed each night, but one glance from a ruminating stranger as he lifts my panties to his nose narrows my attraction from multiple men to only one.

I’m not entirely sure how to process the thoughts and passions battling in my mind until he gives me no other choice…until I’m thrust into an unstable emotional high that I cannot seem to resist.

His objective is to break me in and savor me as if I’m his favorite bottle of single malt whiskey.

I’m well aware of my sensual dependencies. He’s unaware that his still exist.

~Finding Rachel by HJ Harley - Release Blitz~

Finding Rachel
by H.J. Harley

Rachel Fallon is gone. With everything changing at a pace she can't control, she isn't sure whose life she's living anymore. Is this the life she wants or the life everybody else wants for her? When Rachel decides to leave her fiance, Tyler, and best friend, Jordie, behind, the journey to rediscovering herself takes her places that she never expected. It also leads her to meet someone who could be everything she wants. Her choices aren't easy ones and will bring her laughs, tears and heartbreak regardless of what she decides. All that matters is she's finally Finding Rachel.

The driver got out to greet me.

"Miss Fallon." He nodded his head. "I'm Decker ..." he began, but I walked right past him and opened the back door to get in. He waited until I shut it, then climbed back into the driver's seat and looked at me in the rear view mirror.

"As I was saying, I'm Decker. I'll be your driver."

"Great, got it, you're Frank's monkey boy," I snapped at him. "Can you just take me to the hotel or wherever the hell it is I'm staying? Thanks."

He put the truck in drive, but we remained idle. "Okay then. Is there anything you need to get before we go to wherever the hell it is you're staying? Would you like to stop anywhere to pickup lunch?"

I wasn't paying attention to a damn word that man was saying. I was zoned out looking at the picture of Tyler and me. It was my favorite one ...

"Are you high?" Decker asked.

"What? No? Why would you ask me that? Not like it's any of your fucking business if I was," I shot back at him, whipping my sunglasses off my face.

"Great, now that I have your attention, how about you let me know if you need to stop anywhere before getting to your destination. I'll keep it simple for you ... a head nod or some sort of gesture will suffice," he teased.

"I've got a gesture for you," I went back at him. I flipped him off, but down low where I thought he wouldn't see it.

"Ahh, dammit." He gave an exaggerated frown. "Frank bet me twenty bucks you'd give me some inappropriate answer or gesture within the first three minutes of meeting. I bet him you wouldn't. I'm a benefit of the doubt kind of guy. You almost made it. Two minutes and thirty three seconds." He picked up this phone and showed me the stopwatch timer.

"Just drive, please." I put my glasses on, and a small laugh escaped my lips.

"There we go. See, isn't that better than being a cranky pants?" In the rear view, I could see a hint of playfulness in his eyes. "You're in Miami. It's beautiful."

"Yes, you're one hundred percent correct, so much better. Now go." Again letting out a small laugh. I failed miserably at my attempt to be demanding.

"What's the magic word?"

Holy shit, man. You're like the worst employee of all employees on this planet. Please drive me somewhere besides crazy." I begged.

"There we go. Another milestone. You survived being pleasant." He began to drive off.
